Smart BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential consumers before it is fully discharged (which could damage the battery) or before it is insufficient to start, for example, a starter motor. When using Bluetooth to programme Smart BatteryProtect, any levels for connection and disconnection can be set. Alternatively, one of the nine predefined connection and disconnection levels can be set using the programming pin (see manual) without Bluetooth. Bluetooth can be disabled if necessary.
Smart BatteryProtect is a one-way device. It can only handle current in one direction, meaning it can either supply power to a consumer or receive power from a charger, but not both simultaneously. Additionally, current can only flow from the IN terminal to the OUT terminal. When used with a consumer, the battery connects to the IN terminal, and when used with a charger, the charger connects to the IN terminal.
It is ideal for powering consumers directly from the battery, such as water pumps, refrigerators, lighting, and also through an inverter that provides 230V to multiple larger consumers. Use Smart BatteryProtect from the battery before your fuse box to prevent deep discharging of your batteries.
Smart BatteryProtect should be installed after the fuse on the positive side from the battery bank if it is to protect the battery from deep discharge due to consumers.
It can be easily programmed via Bluetooth using your smartphone with Victron's Connect app. - Characteristics
