The balancing unit (Battery Balancer) equalises the state of charge in two series-connected 12V batteries or multiple series-connected battery circuits. When the charging voltage in a 24V battery system exceeds 24V, the balancing unit is activated and compares the voltage between the two series-connected batteries. The balancing unit loads the battery with the highest terminal voltage (or parallel-connected batteries) with a current of up to 1A. The resulting difference in charging current ensures that the batteries reach the same state of charge.

Multiple balancing units can be connected in parallel if needed. A 48V battery bank consisting of 4 pieces of 12V batteries can be balanced with 3 balancing units.
