How Thermacell Works
Thermacell protects you from biting mosquitoes and midges by creating a protection zone of 20 square metres. There is an insect repellent for every occasion, whether you plan to hike in the mountains, hunt in the woods, or relax in the garden. All models provide equivalent protection, and each insect repellent comes with 12 hours of mosquito protection.
1. The gas cartridge generates heat.
Portable units are powered by a gas cartridge that is available for purchase as a refill product. It contains enough gas to power the unit for approximately 12 hours. You install the cartridge by screwing it into the compartment located on the bottom side of the device.
2. The heat activates the insect repellent in the mat.
When the device becomes warm, the mat with insect repellent heats up and the substance is released. Mosquitoes detest the scent and stay away, but we humans do not smell anything. A mat lasts for about 4 hours and the insect repellent is approved by the Chemicals Inspectorate.
3. Start the device to create a protection zone of 20 square metres.
Start the device by turning the knob to the ""on"" position and press the start button a few times to ignite the device. A tip is to look through the small window at the top of the device and check for the glow. If nothing is visible, you may need to press the start button a few extra times. After about 15 minutes, the device will reach full effect and protect against mosquitoes and midges.
