Automatic and intelligent 9-step charging curve.
The battery charger is controlled by a microprocessor with a 9-step charging characteristic for charging batteries for cars, motorcycles, scooters, tractors, jet skis, boats, etc. A microprocessor detects the battery and controls the regulator to provide the correct current and voltage to the battery (charging characteristics). This provides the best charging performance and increases the battery's lifespan.
Switch between 12 and 24 volts mode:
1. Connect the charger to 230 volts (do not connect the charger to the battery).
2. Press and hold the mode button for 1-2 seconds and then release the button. The charger should then switch to the other mode.
3. Now connect the charger to the battery and ensure that the charger starts charging, this is to store the new setting in the charger's memory.
The charger will now start in the new mode every time you connect it to 230 volts.
Repeat steps 1-3 to switch back to the other mode again.

Charging characteristics:
==========================
Battery test & pre-charging (Step 1):
Check the battery voltage & that the battery connections are secure and that the battery is in a stable position before the charging process begins.
Desulphation (Step 2):
Detects sulphated batteries. Pulsating current and voltage remove sulphate from the battery's lead plates and increase the battery's capacity. If the battery voltage during charging varies by more than 3V (12V mode) or 6V (24V mode), desulphation occurs and then the process continues to step 3 after 4 hours. If the variation is less than 3V/6V, the next step continues after 10 seconds without desulphation.
Soft start (Step 3):
Initial battery test to determine the battery's condition. If the battery is heavily discharged, the charger selects the soft start step. Charging begins with a lower current until the battery voltage reaches a normal level for charging.
Bulk (Step 4):
The main charging step where the battery receives the majority of the charge.
During this step, the battery is charged to 75-80% by the charger. The charger delivers maximum current until the terminal voltage reaches the level for full charge for a normal battery.
Absorption charging (Step 5):
Completes the charging up to 100% with a constant voltage. The current is gradually reduced after the current has reached its maximum level.
Reconditioning (Step 6):
Select ""Recondition"" mode, charging with higher voltage to remove sulphate from the battery to increase the battery's lifespan.
Analysis (Step 7):
Tests whether the battery can hold the charge. Batteries that cannot hold the charge should be replaced.
Maintenance charging (Step 8):
Low constant voltage and minimal charging current, the battery is fully charged.
Pulse (Step 9):
Maintains the charge at 95-100% capacity. The charger monitors the battery voltage and provides a pulse as needed to keep the battery fully charged.
Reverse polarity protection
This device is protected against reverse polarity. The red LED will light up and the charging process will not start. If this happens, immediately disconnect from the mains, connect the red crocodile clip to the positive (+) battery terminal and the black crocodile clip to the negative (‐). Then connect to the mains voltage and the charging process should begin.
Short circuit protection
If you accidentally touch the crocodile clips together while the power is on, the device will not perform charging. Disconnect the mains lead, disconnect and start the process again. Avoid touching the clips together.
Charging memory
If the power is turned off/power interruption occurs during charging, the battery charger will memorise the charging mode. When the power returns, charging will resume from the charging phase prior to the interruption. NOTE: When the charger clip is disconnected from the battery, this memory is erased and the charging mode must be selected again.
