Why do I need a gas alarm?
Simply put, it is to protect you and your family from accidents or break-ins. Gas leaks can be extremely dangerous and difficult to detect. In cases of break-ins in caravans or motorhomes, the police have reported several instances of burglars using anaesthetic gas to steal valuables.
Where should I place the gas alarm?
It detects either gas or anaesthetic depending on how it is installed. Gas is heavy, so to detect it, the unit should be installed close to the floor. Anaesthetic gas is lighter, so the unit should be installed near the ceiling instead. The unit has two built-in sensors; one for gas, another for anaesthetic. It connects to the caravan or motorhome's 12v system with a two-part cable.
What types of gas does this alarm protect me against?
The gas alarm covers Butane, Propane & Anaesthetic. The most common in Sweden is gas, which consists of about 95% propane. Butane can also be sold in Sweden under the name gas. As the alarm is very sensitive, it also detects other gas forms such as anaesthetic.
