Stand the starter upright. Make plugs from double newspaper pages and place them on the underside of the starter. Then place the starter directly on the BBQ grill. Fill the starter to the brim with briquettes. By inserting a lit match into one of the ventilation holes on the underside, you can ignite the newspapers. When the top layer of briquettes is covered with a layer of grey ash, you can shake the briquettes on the BBQ grill. Use oven gloves.
