AL-KO now offers the ATC anti-sway system – similar to the ESP system in a car – which detects pendulum movements at the caravan’s axle using a lateral acceleration sensor. The system has a tolerance range for permissible lateral movements, and if these limits are exceeded, the system intervenes before the caravan starts to sway. The Bowden cables tighten, activating the wheel brakes. This stretches the vehicle combination and helps it return to its track. AL-KO Trailer Control brakes so smoothly that the driver hardly notices it, and the brake lights do not activate.
Please note that the ATC system does not affect the maximum speed range of the caravan, meaning it does not influence the new conditions for driving at 100 km/h on German highways (with the Tempo 100 certificate) with a caravan or other trailers.
Flexible Usage of ATC
You can use AL-KO Trailer Control for all caravans with an AL-KO chassis from model year 1998 onwards. More than a hundred different AL-KO dealers in Germany can assist with installation. The ATC system connects to the trailer’s distribution box and receives power from there. Once plugged in, an automatic function check is performed. A green LED light on the overrun brake indicates that the system is ready for operation. However, the system cannot be connected to a 7-pin plug. Once installed, no maintenance is required for the AL-KO ATC.
